Essential Oils and Fragrance Oils for Scent

Our product line consists of our Black Label line with scents that are created purely using essential oils and our White Label line with scents that are created using a combination of essential oils and fragrance oils. So, what is the difference?

Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts from a natural source such as flowers, grasses, fruits, leaves, and trees. The oils are extracted from these sources using various methods such as distillation, cold pressing, or with chemical solvents. The result is an oil that is 80 times more potent than its dried counterpart. American Dude Company does not use any essential oils extracted using the chemical solvents method, as there are always residual chemicals left in the oils that we do not want in our beards. We only use cold pressed and steam distillation essential oils where nothing foreign is introduced during their extraction and thereafter.

Essential oils, much like carrier oils, have a host of beneficial properties. Some are great for our skin, our hair, our health, and even our moods… and much more. Does this make our Black Label line superior to our White Label line? Not really… well maybe a tiny bit, but no where near enough to select a Black Label scent over a White Label scent that you prefer.

Fragrance oils are synthetic. They are created using a mix of aroma chemicals and natural ingredients such as resins, extracts, and essential oils. They provide no additional benefits as essential oils do… they also do not have any negative effects. Fragrance oils are benign, they are just there to smell good… and we love them!

So why do we use fragrance oils? Some scents simply cannot be made using just essential oils. These are beautiful scents that we personally put in our beards every day. We developed our White Label line so that we can offer a wider range of scents when combined with essential oils. We use paraben-free and phthalate-free fragrance oils to ensure a safe product that you can use confidently while protecting our environment.

At the end of the day, our carrier blend is what makes our beard oil so great and our butter blend combined with our carrier blend that makes our butters and balms so amazing. Whether you choose a Black Label scent or a White Label scent, you will have an amazing product that your beard is going to love.
